there are definitely more than two kinds of people in this world

But, having used many clichés in the past, I will use yet another to talk of two important kinds to me in my life: there are those we should treasure and hang on to for life, and those we shouldn't spend much energy on.

I spent too much energy being angry at you, when the anger was really more for myself; anger that hits me like a hot bullet to the gut. I've spent too many thoughts and words and too much energy lamenting about our tiny little history together and how it has ended, that I'd almost forgotten the love I do not deserve that is still given to me freely from those around me.

My dearest family and friends, you wonderful circle of eight, you.

I mean never to neglect you like that again--not in my mind, not in my heart, and certainly not in my manner or spirit.

To you, dearest: Thank you for those kind words, and that wonderful picture. You are certainly one of the most talented, free-spirited, colorful, beautiful, and kindest people I have ever known, and I hope to be in your good company for the rest of my life. Also, thank you for the fox, and for giving me red hair, whether you meant to or not--I love it, and I love you.

I hope to be in such good company for the new year's coming, and for many new years to come, damning the Mayan calendar and all.
