"you're cold? i'm sweating like the carpet on the basement floor of a minnesotan home"

in the past two days, i have achieved that wonderful feeling that you get when you actually work at something and it pays off. maybe the fates were trimmed with the spirit of thanksgiving, but i'd rather believe in myself this time.

yesterday i finally (thomas: "it's about time") talked to the head of the theatre department, was assigned an advisor ("guess who, george?" "who? not me...oh, really??"), and took the entrance exam ("it'll take me a couple of minutes, heather" "that looks pretty blank for a couple of minutes" "...i'll whiz through it" "okay, well, i'm taking your staff"), all to get that laminated piece of paper that is my major's card and a decorated flyer asking everyone to welcome the newest theatre major.

smile.

today, i found six possible monologues to use for next monday's auditions. my combat partner and i showed significant improvement when presenting our knowledge of the quarterstaff fight, and i didn't drop mine as many times during the drills ("tiny dana and her heavy oak staff...we're rooting for you!"). and i was able to get in a signed add/drop form in right as the place was closing. i was able to run to my room, stuff two duffel bags worth of dirty laundry, and catch a ride with erin and her parents back up here: home. the only part i'm mad about is that i forgot my room here has no grounding plug sockets, and i brought the wrong plug-in for my adapter, but oh well.

tomorrow equals liberal amounts of laundry, lunch, and lindy-hopping with them ol' 'cats.

the day after through saturday includes travel and family and all the fixin's.

saturday night may entail a somewhat-blues party. if i can find a ride, as mom's car has a broken driver's seatbelt.

sunday's journey will end where i started today.

monday brings auditions.

plus, i think i'm making more friends here. smile wider.

oh, and even though i'm just now getting over my cold, my voice remains altered by my warped sinuses. i think it sounds sexy. cool. did i say sexy? i meant hot. COOL. except when i breathe right in people's faces. not sexy.

oh my good goodness. life is great.
