i left the cast party that night a few months ago at the bowling alley brimming over with mixed emotions--happy that it happened, sad to see it go. a few tears hit my pillow that night before i fell asleep, but no waterworks.
i stopped by at around one the next day to help tear down the set, or what's known in theatre as a set strike ["...a set strike is actually a lot of work..." -Skylar Hansen, '06]. there were only a few of us there, but we managed to pull the wagons apart and set the apron back up. Wavra went and used up the extra money leftover from the cast party and bought us donuts and a few sodas, and we talked about future plans for our Seattle trip later in the spring. it sounded like a lot of fun, and it was, because i adore Seattle anyway, that coupled with the presence of friends made for a very worthwile trip.
whatever emotions were brimming that night had simmered down. i feel complete. this was my last show, and it's always sad to see it end, especially because i'll be leaving this year, but there's that saying: "Don't cry because it's over, but smile because it happened."
oh, and as a senior, i fulfilled my thespianic© [is that a word?...it is now] duties and excersised the privilege of...The Wall. namely, any of the back walls in the backstage hallway. many messages of advice and inspiration from seniors past are inscribed there. i managed to scrounge up an orange sharpie [yes, it shows up on the wall] and wrote a hopefully inspirational and maybe encouraging message there. i can't wait for those of you who shared the amazing onstage and offstage experiences with me to read it. let me know what you think when you get the chance to.
