they held and i gloried

i had decorated that statue with everything i loved, all my treasured possessions around the bottom, like a shrine of some sort. i couldn't believe i was doing this. they asked if they could set fire yet and i grabbed the book of matches and sprinted in the other direction.

we were walking through the street, just right down the middle, but it was okay, because there were no cars and others were doing the same; in fact, we were just part of one huge crowd. we held hands and swung them and smiled at each other, we came closer into a hug, and i felt as if everything else was white noise and blinded sight because i never wanted to let go. i felt safe. i felt secure.

another one and i sat in a booth at a restaurant uptown with others, but we only stared at each other amidst the talk and the laughter. we were unnoticed. we both excused ourselves almost quite abruptly and nearly ran to my car. i cranked the engine and we took off down the road, i don't know where we were going but it began to rain and we both just laughed.

i woke up and wondered whether i should keep a journal.
